“It was a perfect place to stay. The location is in the city centre, easy to reach many interesting spots in Amersfoort. The room was nice and clean. The studio room was equipped with a small kitchen and also a coffee maker. It was really an enjoyable room. The guy in the receptionist was nice, friendly, and helpful. The room actually quiet enough even there is crowd outside. The only thing I was concerned about was the plants in the room, they nearly died and seemed not watered for a long time :)”

“The oldest building in town, renovated surely quite well with water-elec-heating systems. Facing down the center, be ready for some noise if your room is facing the front. Even though I stayed over on a saturday night, the noise still was not bothering much. Rooms may use some face-lift, although quite clean and full of the necessities. Nice breakfast and also friendly staff...”

“Have stayed at De Gaaper three times and each time has been great. Sure, it’s basic, but for the price, you can’t complain. Everything has been serviceable and clean on each of my visits. Staff have been friendly and efficient in the usual Dutch way. The square can be noisy, especially on balmy evenings, so do pack some good-quality earplugs.”

“Friendly, welcoming and professional staff give this hotel a very personal touch. We arrived early and our room was already available for us. The delicious breakfast was very good value with a wide selection of sweet and savoury options, served in their cosy and attractive cafe space overlooking the square. The weather was rainy and cold during our stay but our room was well heated and comfortable with the room cleaned every day and coffee etc restocked.”
